thePiecan Boldly arriving with stallion mounted confidence, through stubborn defiance, to gut wrenching torment and tender moments of regret, defeat and reflection. Very impressive lead guitar work & wah use, as with all the fx and synth work. Ever impressive vocalised story telling from Nathan & Gordon on synergistic harmony. No track disappoints! From 'Childe' on-wards, is a soul birthing, twisting journey of Napiers goodies, cosmic wormholes & Bonesmen's tracklements. To the Heights! Favorite track: The Heights.

Dirk Radloff Napier's bones raise the bar again. Compared to their previous albums I register a clearer instrumentation with a focus on guitars, while the synths are nicely integrated. The epic songs are well structured and can catch the attention of the listener even during a distance of more than twenty minutes. Nathan Tillet and his very flexible voice get often support by excellent choir arrangements. Napier's bones monumental masterpiece so far ... Favorite track: Mirabilis.

Darren Douglas Danahy Not a note, not a word, a syllable out of place. That's how I feel about this music. This is a release on par with classical art disciplines.

Each song here, a story. Almost, a historical novel, in fact. There aren't many other places where songs of this length can hold my attention so well.

From the "I wish I could play like that" type guitar work to the mind bending turn arounds in the music to the wonderfully sung lyrics, this is a progressive rock masterpiece . Favorite track: Mirabilis.

Alrihkh Napier’s Bones have a captivating knack for dramatic storytelling. The music is enthralling and epically cinematic; the lyrics cleverly and poetically wrought. Wordsmithery of this quality is a rare treat...a disappearing art form. Thank you Gordon and Nathan for another prized collection of tales. Long live Napier’s Bones! Cheers! 8.5/10. Favorite track: Standing Childe.

Lee Lucas Messrs Midgley & Tillett are back again and with quite a force. Monuments I personally think is their best yet, each of its 5 tracks take on different historical events and the haunting stories testify why they left their mark with the monuments they left throughout history. All set in GREAT! Prog Rock style with many influences from the likes of Rush. Queen. Steve Hackett. and many more. It even contains a mammoth BEAST of track and it's a stunning production. My advice is GET It. Favorite track: Standing Childe.

Mark well this son of Ordulf Ordgar the hunter, the warrior, the Childe, Through Devonshire lands of my father My bold reputation is known far and wide Proud soldier's son proven to all From graceful Plym to Crockern Tor Tavistock Eaves to Wistman's Wood My name goes on before The noblest champion My constant companions : bow, armour and horse A classical hero Unbeaten in combat, Famous par force This bright Winter's day sally forth Feel the bite of the wind from the North Talk of death and unrest on the moor And so they called for me And so they called for me Childe ! I stand before you as Ordulf my father Sent me to help you, rumours abound Talk of a monster which comes from a mountain Lair in the snow, down through the cloud "Childe Help Us : We turn to you in despair This Hell Beast, Gouging and trampling and killing we swear" Cometh the hour, cometh the hero Herculean task with no time to waste Find me a party of lion-hearted locals There to support me, keen to make haste "Childe Bless You : Our best men have fallen you see God Speed You : Alone you must go to the heights of the North-East" "Childe Praise You : Dispatch this Hell-driven beast God Speed You : To frost stiffened moor, far in the North East" Born to this duty, Bound to this land Hardship accepted, the hunt I command Onward to Glory, Like no-one else alive Like no-one else alive Breaking free we fly, man and horse as one Green meadows are far behind, o'er frosted ground we run Then ahead ! I see him there His tracks in the snow My Erymanthian Boar Onward we go Celebrate the hero, all will know my name Monuments remembered, Centuries away Childe who lived like no-one else before I see you! Now right before my eyes Pray tell - what Devil-spawn are you ? A fiend from out of Hell, Working evil in the world Today it ends, where horizon meets the sky A readiness for death's eternal cold embrace A chance to pass beyond to glory Prepare yourself! Engage the clan of Cain! A fiend from out of Hell, Working evil in the world Today it ends, where horizon meets the sky A readiness for death's eternal cold embrace A chance to pass beyond to glory Back to Hell you go ! As noblest Ordulf's son in blood and God I trust, into The snow, Unto the breach Fate will do as it must Haha! Onward Tight the reins and hard the breath Onward to life or death Today it ends, where horizon meets the sky This son of Ordulf ..... like none before Eternal cold embrace Is this why we live our lives ? So far from all I've known So alone Today it ends This Son of Ordulf Fast beneath my horse, his body gives me warmth But it's not enough, it's not enough Through the swirling snow, just before he goes He strains to meet my gaze ..... we know Generations fall like leaves upon the trees Cruel Winter blows them down soon covering their deeds But what remains? No-one to hear my cries My dying breath alone, no long goodbyes Mark well this son of Ordulf Ordgar the hunter, the warrior, the Childe Born to this duty, Bound to this land Fallen in glory, Ordgar still stands Mark well the Childe who lived like none before Like none alive, so stands the Childe Bound to this land, through countless years A man apart, the Childe still stands Behold the Childe Behold the Childe The Childe still stands The Childe Still Stands Today

Mirabilis 10:26
Seven years long we toiled, ancient manuscripts we searched Seven planets are aligned, Combining wisdom here on earth Combining wisdom here on earth Unlock the secrets of the wise, attain divine Our noble art, now lifeless brass Will speak Form perfected life from death, the Brazen Head takes its first breath Soon he will speak the truth We seek Some say magic or witchcraft here, some harbour envy, with others fear Despite it all, it makes no difference what they say Forgoing sleep for seven nights, my heavy eyes they recognise Have to trust in time to tell me what he says. Rest well, Roger Bacon Rest well, Illumination Rest Well, On this sixth day Rest Well, He will soon say These questions, O these questions, O these questions, O these questions O these questions, O these questions No more Secrets, The Truth Time Is Time is all you know Time it holds you down, until the end No more questions, listen as I speak Time Was Time Past Seven Years long we toiled Seven Planets were aligned Forgoing sleep for seven nights Seven spirits, seven lights Seven wonders, seven seas

Waters Dark 03:08
Leave behind old tangled streets Beyond the Roman stone wrought walls Await the Minster's blessed peal Far from the crowd this Mayday Morn Hear the gentle waters song, through verdant shade it won't be long Clutching stones of purest white, await the bell, the time for five Cast them out, To timeless calm Flowing fluid dreams I pray they will take form Relive the past Relieve the pain Reveal the future bring A present free from blame They said that time heals everything, all will soon be well They sing their song songs of transience, we fall under its spell I've heard it said that Spring won't be long, but it's so hard to tell And it feels to me it's all so far away Staring at Waters Dark

A lifetime moving on from all the places I don't belong From people who won't understand, an exile born to wander the land Free to say what no-one else will say Our darker side given light of day The great and good agree, a sentimenal lack of style They cannot look beyond, behind, beneath their smile, they turn & sigh Free to say what no-one else will say Our darker side given light of day No value for the capital, they say 'go west young man' Outsider finds a way inside, to reach the Barbican Cling to life on Clifton Street, Misfits not missed, at last belong Whispered talk of decadence, with certainty they sing their song They turn us out, they turn away, outcasts one and all The flotsam and the jetsam now, outsiders clarion call We are Free to choose this way, free to think, free to be who we are Free expression here, free to love while it lasts We are free to choose this way, free to think, free to be who we are Free expression here, free to live while it lasts Total presence here, Total absence brings me back It brings me back A lifetime moving on, one more place I don't belong A life, a world, a gallery, exiled now eternally I showed the things no-one else would show Darker sides in all of us we know We are Free to choose this way, free to think, free to be who we are Free expression here, free to love while it lasts We are free to choose this way, free to think, free to be who we are Free expression here, free to live while it lasts

The Heights 08:10
A final glass, the bottle drained, misty-eyed farewell to friends The evening ends To Will & Joe it's time to go, until we rewrite the world again Close the oaken door, leave the fumes and fireside warmth Into the cold, once more alone It penetrates my soul .......it's all I know From the Cross Roads, unsteadily at first I make my way, I leave behind the light To ease the passage through the night, console myself with how it might have been....for me Time it seems has gone so fast, as memories, dreams and hopes are lost And I'm slowly painted out of history Still I recall a different time with aspiration mine Talent burning bright, I was the bearer of family hopes The red haired boy famed for invention and Horatian Odes I can only rue how quickly those days go My letters go unanswered, I wander lonely, what would William do ? If I knew .... Late Romantic seeking solace, in grape and grain and seed, find Xanadu....and I do....I do.... I do Sound in my ideas, execution's all I lack And in this parish the Bells toll for me Across the bridge I pause awhile, the waters dark reflecting true Worth....and all that I deserve Another rented studio, another short lived post, I've lost again Overlooked, underrated, never eagerly awaited Haunted by my failure night and day Nothing to say, No-one wants to hear Nothing to show, No-one wants to see Nothing to add with brush or pen Nothing to tell in verse or prose No stories left for me ......let's see Nothing to say, nothing to show Nothing to tell, nothing to add One story left for me By the boundary of Thrushcross Grange a shadowy figure takes form Ancient & evil & just out of sight, my mind distempered no more From the trees, cross the road then it halts, the briefest of glances we know Of old It knows me Its gaze pierced my heart Then to the Heights we went
