Several years have passed and we encounter a different Jan Tregeagle. He has the power, influence and leisure opportunities that he could only dream of in the pre-pact days, but somehow there's a sense of failure, or missed opportunity gnawing away inside him.

Doubt, regret and a grudging recognition of so many wasted years.

This Jan is vulnerable, and desperate to convince himself that all is still well.

Is it sinful to be free of denial?
Enjoying life while it lasts?

And Abstinience is hatred of the self

To me, "Trip The Life Fantastic" was a must-buy on "Bandcamp Friday" this time. It's one of the few "Drifting Sun" albums not already found in my collection, and an essential one, because it marks the beginning of the prolific collaboration of composer/keyboardist Pat Sanders and lyricist/singer Peter Falconer, which was, in my opinion, the best creative pairing the band ever had.
